I never cared for sewing as a youth. My first year of college, for Christmas, my parents gave me a sewing machine instead of the stereo I had picked out. This left me feeling very disappointed and misunderstood. Music was my life. It was the 60’s and clothing fashions began leaning towards very colorful, elegant fabrics and wistful silhouettes. As more and more hippy friends brought me their jeans to patch, my inner artist emerged and no patch went unembroidered (by hand). So, in my spare time, I began designing clothing ideas. I taught myself to sew that year (1969) and before long, was costuming for several theatres in the Portland, Oregon area. One of my greatest fabric scores, at that time, was when the Portland Paramount Theatre decided to rebuild and I negotiated the timeless heavy purple velvet drapes, w/ purple lining. The many garments made from those drapes helped me pay for schooling for quite some time. This was to become the true beginning of my entrepreneurial sewing adventure. Through the years, I have experimented with just about every phase of fashion and costume design there is. (see resume) And I am so very far from being done. My mind seldom stops and I only need more time to implement the ideas that come to me. And, perhaps, a skilled cast of characters who also understand how to implement my ideas!
My latest venture is into the World of "Steampunk". The Pacific Northwest is a hotbed,so I jump on the wagon. Stay tuned for military style jackets, fingerless gloves and who knows what else?! But it will come with hardware. Enjoy my website and Welcome to my World. Keep returning to see new creations.Mahalo and a Hui Hou. |
